Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Agent to join our team! As a Purchasing Agent, you will be working with multiple departments, processing material requests and purchase orders to determine their supply needs, place orders, and assist in finding the tools they need to do their jobs. You will also be assisting management, following up on supply requests, and monitoring inventory levels of essential materials. The ideal candidate has strong organizational and communication skills, the ability to multitask and shift priorities as needed, and an understanding of supply chain procedures.
Responsibilities
- Review, analyze and process purchase requests from departments, determining need and priority
- Negotiate pricing, volume discounts, and payment terms.
- Place orders, track deliveries, follow up on delays, and maintain strong working relationships with vendors
- Maintain accurate inventory levels, ordering an appropriate amount of product to prevent shortages
- Evaluate offers from multiple vendors, determining the best place to order based on price, quality, and availability, conducting research as necessary to find an appropriate supplier
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier performance.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of procurement/purchasing experience in manufacturing or construction-related industries
- Previous experience in a similar position desired
- Strong computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office suite
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong ability to negotiate favorable terms, analyze financial data and market trends
- Understanding of the manufacturing process, and common issues surrounding it regarding purchasing
- The ability to multitask and shift priorities under tight deadlines
Compensation: $19.00 - $26.00 per hour
